Loxley Wireless Plc, the telecommunications network arm of Loxley Plc, has forged an alliance with China Telecom Global Ltd in a bid to be selected as a private partner with TOT Plc.

The wholly owned subsidiary of China Telecom Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding with Loxley Wireless in April in a move aimed at becoming a strategic private partner to help the state telecom provide fourth-generation (4G) wireless broadband service.

Vasant Chatikavanij, a senior executive vice-president of Loxley Plc, said details of the alliance between Loxley Wireless and China Telecom had not yet been worked out.

“We’ve initially agreed in principle to develop a full range of cooperation, depending on various business opportunities,” he said.

Loxley Wireless has made a partnership proposal to TOT to help the state enterprise operate 4G service under a 15-billion-baht nerwork upgrade.

Mr Vasant said the subsidiary was awaiting a rasolution from TOT on partnering with private operators.

“If we are selected to be a partner of TOT, Loxley Wireless can then tailor its business model with China Telecom to serve the state enterprise’s requirements,” he said.

TOT is set to choose a strategic partner as part of efforts to turn around its ailing financial status.
